On one hand, it’s impossible for me to rate or think of this in objective terms simply because a friend of mine made this(!!). On the other hand, it’s also the most life-affirming, beautiful meditation on faith and faith in action that I’ve seen in a good long while and am likely to see all year; to the point where I’m still thinking about it days later and already anticipating sharing it with others.
It’s a little funny because a few days ago I was telling some friends of mine about how I feel like I’m in a weird spot with “church” right now, and how all I really want out of faith at this time in my life is community. No ceremony, no real structure, no dogma, just time with people and space to explore ideas with. And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I now have this film in my life that’s such a shining, wonderful example of that. Can’t wait to see it again and to eventually see what other cool art my friends make.
