The nyc trans representation is as strong as it’s ever been in this short film at Sundance.
If this is any indication for the future of trans girls in film, I might have a chance at an acting career still.
The small details, like photos on the wall and remanants of stubble, make this movie feel personal. The actual reality of trans femininity and the story behind it is unlike anything I’ve seen on film.
Nicky Demairia’s performance is daringly and truthful in a world that rejects trans women’s honesty of character. I can’t wait to see what she does in the future.
Lux Pascal is almost too restrained for my taste, and her performance felt solid but hesitant.
The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because the editing and pacing left me wanting more. It was too quick! Some shots felt under developed and cut short, but it was still very good!
