This is one of those films where it is so heavy handed in its message that if becomes annoying, however I really do agree with its message and believe that it’s good. How bad is that? A film I agree with but don't like 😆 My issue comes with the fact that it’s a short film really. The tone and themes of dystopia are very heavy and require a fair bit of building, which to be fair this short film does a decent job of, but as someone as terminally online as myself (yikes!), it is just so over the top with how extreme the story scenario is that I was groaning almost from the offset. The VR headset plot device immediately called to Sword Art Online, which had received ridicule from the offset.
I just don’t know. This is not a bad film? But something in me rejects it and thinks it’s utter cringe 😂 We've all been in a situation where we want to say no or say it really ain’t that deep right? This film is that: like The Matrix it entertains a reality that luckily is not apparent in our current trajectory as a species but isn’t improbable. I’m not the most positive fella but I’m no nihilist, so films like this make me say “shut up brev” 😂
