“buffalos don’t know borders”
extremely moving and impactful omg i was bawling at the end when it just showed the buffalos being released and their instincts instantly calling them to run deep into the wilderness; i also loved hearing the people involved speak about their connections with the buffalo and how something as simple as just looking at them brought them peace of mind and served as a form of guidance in life.
was lucky enough to watch this with lily gladstone in attendance and was literally 2 feet away from her when she did a q&a afterward, and her commentary for this film was very moving; in regards to the buffalo rushing on their journey, she spoke of the prevalence of genetic memories and how the buffalo felt a strong connection to the land despite having no been familiar with it in their own lifetime. it was evident that she was very passionate about this project as well, particularly given her past with ecology, which definitely added more depth to her producer title - loved it.
