the only real critique presented in this movie is that of colonialisms’ pervasive ideology that often spread to those it oppressed, resulting in natives so eager to serve empires that they turn on their own people. however, this is all obviously framed through the lens of a white writer and director with the natives to nigeria being depicted either as greedy and selfish in the case of the main character and unintelligent followers in the case of the rest of the villagers. this is coupled with the foremost representative of british surveyors/officers being kind and morally righteous. outside of that, the acting was on point and the cinematography was probably the best part of the movie
