Films in French are always sad no matter what.La Pirogue is a movie that represents the tragedy of colonists as they attempt to travel away from their families in Senegal to create a better life in glorified Europe. The idea of this journey on a Pirogue, A small fishing boat, Makes the tragedy throughout the film more expected but still as influential as you feel that the characters also know that they won't survive. Overall this is a simple but good movie with a good message that I felt had a low ceiling that it successfully reached.
