“I want to watch Back to Black! / We have Back to Black at home”.
Back to Black at home:
Why is it framed like a documentary?, that makes it weirder. It’s fake documentary about a real person.
Watching a bunch of American actors trying to put on British accents in this. Painful. The best is the person playing Amy and she slips up all the time. Her hair is doesn’t look like a party city wig, at least. But her tattoos do look like they were drawn on by a 5 year old.
They couldn’t get the rights to a Frank Sinatra song so they had the dad just hum something vaguely Sinatra. And since they couldn’t afford Sinatra they definitely couldn’t afford Amy songs. So we get vague allusions to the songs without hearing them.
And They keep talking about Camden but this movie is shot no where near Camden (or the Uk) with actors who probably don’t even know where Camden is. All we really see is that one street I feel like they use all the Nickelodeon shows and one house with a pool. (Clearly Camden 😉)
I’m not even going to get onto how this movie tackles real issues like eating disorders and self harm because I do not have the words to do it justice. To show her spiraling, they just cut to the most obvious stock footage of wine pouring and cocaine with a snorting sound effect.
And just when you think they couldn’t get any worse. They decide to reenact Amy’s last night alive and the discovery of her dead body with as much conviction of a Neil Breen movie scored with the most obnoxious guitar track ever. Thanks Movie!. That’s what we really needed!.
Anyway you can watch this on 100% professional streaming service, STV Player if you live in Scotland.
