Blumhouse better be taking notes from this cause omg?! So much better than I had expected!!
The lighting was amazing paired with the janky camera movements, making the movie feel completely immersive. I was literally waiting to hit a skill check lmao
The characters were better than I had expected them to be!! Casting was a 10/10 my only gripe is that there was no Jake to complete the core 4 and plus you need 4 survivors in a trial to start it. Was there a bot running about? Probably! I’ll just assume bot Jake got taken out first haha
Anyways the portrayal of these characters was great which was immediately made clear to me when Dwight started biting his nails OMG I was so happy cause he does that in the lobby!! And when Meg first appears she’s hiding in a bush which… speaks for itself. Besides that she’s quick on her feet and tries to get things done. Claudette bless was so cute despite doing nothing but run away. I wish she actually used a medkit or tried to like heal someone or herself since that ties in with her character. For being the main survivor in this she was a little lackluster compared to Meg and Dwight who I felt had a bit more personality than her!
Trapper for me is a mixed bag. He looked phenomenal and I love how they made him a menace, he was lowkey giving Michael Myers vibes just making noises but that’s kind of it. I wish instead of standing about like a numpty he would’ve ripped Meg off of the generator that was two feet away from him but for some reason he just stared down Claudette, didn’t even bother trying to chase or hit her either. He also had some weird moral shift at the end where he doesn’t want to kill Claudette but then the entity basically gets him told and makes him kill her. To me that’s more of a Wraith thing to hesitate killing someone and having to be made to but I guess it shows that the entity is like the top dog of the realm.
One more little gripe I had was the fact they never used Meg’s scream when she got hooked :( mad wasted potential since her scream is the most iconic one. I assume she just died and that was really it haha.
Regardless im hoping for a sequel movie in the near future!! The huntress lullaby at the end has me hopeful for it!! Jared PLEASE make a huntress sequel!!!
