To Kill a Wolf

first, i hope kelsey taylor doesnt fall off cuz this is a promising movie for a new director. the camerawork is absolutely outstanding, probably my favorite part abt this film. i also love how this movie explores the sense of guilt in two different characters, one that tries to get rid of it by hiding and burying it did and one that is straight up consumed by it. i like how the woodsman eventually realizes that dani also feels guilt and shame the same way he has been feeling guilt and how he acts upon finding out she feels guilty. honestly didnt expect much from the movie but damn was it an unexpected good watch. also fuck carey or should i say spawn of the devil.

going into this i was expecting it to be and underrated masterpiece but after watching it i lowkey think that its overrated. I mean there is nothing wrong with it but there is nothing to good about it either and 7+ imdb and 100 on rotten tomatoes is INSANE for a movie so yeah. 

the visuals are so breathtaking taking tho, anything filmed in oregon is just better and i loved how the color grading made dani look in the final scene where she told julene everything

also i feel like this is some of the most accurate representation of grooming i have scene in a film its subtle and its manipulative and it feels true

Absolutely loved this. Taking a fairytale and retelling it in the modern context is so brilliant and especially in this way. The themes it explores by reimagining the old fairytale for the modern age are incredibly ambitious. There is a heaviness and complexity here. But as I said it is handled with care and deep nuance. In part due to its script and in part what was conveyed through the performances, especially Maddison Brown. Genuinely one of the most beautiful to look at movies of the year. Cinematography of the PNW is out of this world.
