The whole film was a story , nothing technical or over the top but simply a sentimental and strongly dramatic montage of the life of father and daughter estranged by the country.
It paints their story of struggle and love blatantly, we don’t search for answers cause we already are aware of it no metaphors no rhetorics , just plain human condition and a social commentary
The film conveys what it’s meant to convey
Poverty, the harsh life of immigrants abroad, the father’s unwavering love and self- sacrifices and mostly bitter but sometimes sweet scenes of them reuniting.
Watching the life of the protagonist “happy” is like peeking through the hole of every desperate people who went abroad for a better tomorrow , though the story may be different in everyone’s life but the feelings and sentiments they all carry at the core of their heart , I think is the same.
The end scene felt like a dream sequence and the drawing of Maya come true,
I hope they ended up together in their safe haven till the very end.
