I’ve been a fan of Warren Ellis for a while, he’s one of the coolest people I’ve ever come across so and this film just adds to that coolness.
Whilst this film juggles telling two stories and then mashing them together, I appreciated the way it took time to delve into Ellis as a person and the driving forces behind his music. The story of the park could have easily been its own thing yet I really liked the way the two stories came together.
Ellis’s score is deeply personal, absolutely stunning and I love the way it’s woven into the narrative which is something Ellis touched on in the surprise q&a session after the film as I got the opportunity to ask about the personal nature of the score.
The imagery is also astonishing and combining it with Ellis’ hauntingly beautiful score creates some truly brilliant art that will certainly stick with you.
The film was great but the experience and opportunity to ask one of my favourite artists a question really made the night for me!
