Rally fun doc about one of my favorite books, also WHAT THE FUCK?! Shoutout 3rd Coast Comics and Terry! No fucking way the shop I’ve gone to the past four years at Loyola gets a whole ass segment in a Music Box premiere!
I will say the edit could’ve been tighter, and it’s probably a budget thing but the repeating, at times inaccurate b-roll was a downer. Also, if the crux of the movie is how influential this book is, then there should really be bigger voices outside the comic world
Meaning they either needed A-talking heads from filmmakers and more footage from movies or B-an actual synopsis of the plot to better convey the book’s themes (it’s actually weird how little they delve into the story?)
That said, love Alex Ross, actually had no clue he lived in Chicago so that’s awesome. Glad I could see a local movie spotlighting his work :)
