I really like the premise of this film. Using the rom-com format to explore the perspective of a person dealing with autism, trauma, and anxiety is really unique and compelling idea. However I unfortunately found Teresa Palmer's portrayal of this character to be lacking in nuance and authenticity, which constantly took me out of the movie. The premise of these neuroses manifesting in the form of Nikola Tesla as an imaginary best friend also has a lot of potential, but I found it to be underutilized. Overall I think all the right pieces to do this idea justice were in the script (which makes me want to check out the novel the film was based on), but the execution was ultimately underwhelming.
