This is not a terrible found footage film by any means.
I think there’s some great suspense, a few jump scares that got me, cool visuals, and the stalker character is terrifying.
I think tying this to Camp Van Dorn was insensitive at best. It felt thrown in and didn’t connect to what the film was critiquing. Regardless of whether the men were killed or not, exploiting the narrative is not a good look—especially when seemingly, they were interviewing people who in good faith thought this was a documentary. I think had the ghosts been connected to a general haunting or possession, it would’ve worked so much better.
I don’t think the silhouetted figures was a bad idea, but morph suits are really easily identifiable. I think a translucent sheet would’ve made them much earlier. There were also some music cues and editing choices I wasn’t too fond of especially when it came to the ghosts.
Overall, it did a great job building suspense and I loved the back and forth between the stalker and Janna/Austins videos. Not a bad time at all.
