Lonely, shallow, neurotic, egotistical, fearful of death, selfish, insincere, and existential, but mostly adroit.
Red Flag reminds me of Woody Allen in a way. The defeatist filmmaker surrounded by love triangles, pseudo intellectuals, and his own neurotic death anxiety. Alex Karpovsky has always entertained me in that his delivery always seems covered in sarcasm or are feigned for his ulterior motives. This is entirely appropriate for his role in Red Flag and it really shows once the film enters road trip mode. Until it does, however, the film feels very stagnant. Fortunately, it doesn't take long for Alex to hit the road.
