I saw a review that described this movie perfectly and I kind of agree with it: it’s neither good nor bad. It has a couple of things that work and quite a few that don’t.
The cast is actually pretty solid. Lucien Laviscount, Lewis Tan, Hannah John-Kamen, Holt McCallany and, surprisingly, Michael Bradway. It was nice seeing him in something outside of Chicago Fire. Performance wise, everyone does a decent job, but nothing really stands out in a big way. If I had to pick the highlights, Lucien and Hannah are clearly the strongest. They carry most of the energy whenever they’re on screen.
The action scenes are fine and entertaining, but they could have been much better. They lack a bit of coordination and clarity, and sometimes it’s hard to fully enjoy them because the staging doesn’t always come together as well as it should. On top of that, there are some noticeable technical issues. There are moments where someone is speaking and you can’t really tell who it is, and it honestly feels like a line of dialogue that accidentally made it into the final cut.
Where the movie works best is the plot. It’s very cliché, but for a short, fast paced action movie, it kind of does the job. Trying to figure out who the traitor is and watching how everything unfolds is entertaining enough, even if it becomes a bit obvious at times. Still, it keeps things moving and never really drags.
In the end, this is one of those typical action movies you put on to have a decent time without thinking too much. It’s fine for what it is, but it doesn’t offer much more than that. Perfectly watchable, but also very forgettable.
