Lots of thoughts here.
First and foremost, seeing all this passion and group focus put into a project is so satisfying and provides so much hope for the horror genre that not one person took opportunities that could have lead to a lesser franchise. Fucking A this group is so amazing, the work they put into these films is just so god damn mindblowing.
The commitment to practicals is the reason this movie succeeds and clearly the creators are well aware. It is so mindblowing to me that the make up and preosthetics guy is Christien Tinsley. And even more so amazing that he could capture the same vibe of previous Terrifier installments and make it completely his own.
Art the Clown has the most personality comparatively to damn near any other slasher character. He is similar to Micheal Meyers in the fact that he doesnt talk, however he conveys a similar charisma(?) to Freddy Kreuger. All while not talking. I genuinely believe that David Howard Thornton deserves an Oscar(at least nom) for his performaces in 2 and 3. Sadly that will never happen, but I could never give enough love to that man. Scream will forever be my favorite movie, but I think I love the iconography of Art more than Ghostface.
Sienna Shaw is my favorite final girl in horror period. I think? I feel like im sinning saying all of this over Sydney Prescott. Theres just something so compelling about Lauren LaVera and I love her genuinely so much.
I completely understand that these movies arent for everyone and I know some people may tell me to fuck off, but I'm not trying to push this franchise on anyone. I think that the Terrifier fan base is the best fan base in horror simply for that fact. People who love it, love it dearly, but it isnt pushed upon anyone else because its an extremely unique taste.
I fucking hated the feeling I got watching the first movie the first time. I didnt make it through on my first watch. The second time I went through it, I made it to the point where Art was getting his ass handed to him and he just pulled out the gun, and I immediately knew this was for me.
Quite on the contrary, Terrifier 2 is exactly how I want movies to look and sound. The score, the lighting, the aesthetic. Everything about the second one is amazing.
I cant quite grasp why these are so important to me, its exploitative and unbearable at times, but this is my shit. Rant over.
