This movie is very visually appealing, the use of color and the shot composition was amazing. The scenes and camera placement was very creative and interesting. The story and subject of the movie wasn’t bad, but to me personally it lacked the emotion that a movie of this caliber should bring out of me. Im quite an emotional movie goer and it isn’t hard to make me cry or atleast feel some kind of emotion. The only emotion that i felt in this movie was, nothing, not even dread, which was a bit unexpected for me. The only thing it brought out of me was indifference.
The main character and all the people around him were very “real”, like people I actually know in my life.
Most of their interactions were very natural and felt connected to Lithuanian culture. The acting was pretty good. Im just shocked at myself and the movie that most (except one very violent one that only made me feel horrified because of how blunt it was) of these scenes didn’t bring out anything in me, ESPECIALLY the dog one.
Maybe I just wasn’t ready to watch a movie like this, I don’t know. It didn’t bore me or feel like a waste of time, I left it knowing that the movie had more potential that wasn’t fully explored.
This is a good movie to analyse or write an essay about, it has a lot of metaphorical and “deep” scenes that can be analysed in a lot of different ways, this is both a good and bad attribute, though i would like to explore some of those scenes more.
This movie is a good sign for Lithuanian film, I like the fact that more of these projects are popping up and actually getting the recognition they deserve.
