God… loves… pussy.
Anyways, Jerrod Carmichael’s Don’t Be Gay.
This is the newest full stand-up comedy special by everyone’s favorite homosexual psychopath, Jerrod Carmichael, who literally came into my top three comics, right up there with icons like Bo Burnham and Xander De Rycke. And with Don’t Be Gay, he again goes with the same style of comedy, messaging, and topics as Rothaniel, but with way more punchlines, while having a fun, almost nasty and maybe even uncomfortable delivery at times. That I just love.
I mean, almost at the end of the show, you can see Jerrod just lusting and breaking down the intricacies of D'Angelo’s music video for “How Does It Feel,” talking about it being his sexual awakening. And I mean lusting over the man. Liking his lips, closing his eyes, rubbing his body while going into full detail about it. And after the show, I watched the music video, and as a bisexual man myself, I can’t fucking blame him.
Like… JESUS!!!
But personally, mine was either seeing Markiplier shirtless or this one dude in like my fourth year of high school who's was like named Alex or something. Yep, it did take me a while to realize I also wanted to fuck dudes.
Anyways, segways are weird.
He also talks about being in an open relationship, all mothers being crazy, thinking about homophobia so much he forgets racism, how he wants to dominate poeple while having sex with men he doesnt know and doesn't care about, and about the confines of someone trying to figure out who you are because he thinks he recognizes you while he’s sucking your dick. He goes in and out of topics. Like, literally.
For a few people, I get it, it might be a little much. But seeing a good-looking, charismatic, funny Black man talking about his religious family (which is the most realistic shit I’ve ever heard, because my mom is Christian as hell and has major mental issues. Still love you, Mom) and his sex life is laugh-out-loud comedy mixed with stomach-turning realism and realization. It just does something to me.
I kept laughing super loud. I absolutely loved it. I would probably rewatch 8 or Rothaniel more, but you can’t deny that this is, again, another beautiful episode in the season of Jerrod Carmichael stand-up specials.
And one more thing: why does Jerrod Carmichael always have the most perfect layout for directors? Ari Katcher did a really good job. At first, I was skeptical because Burnham directed the first two. But then I was like, why do I like this visually so much? I like the beige curtains and the vibe of the show. It shouldn’t work, but it does.
A really good stand-up special.
Another very enjoyable show.
