This is one of those short films that I know I would’ve really enjoyed in a film festival environment.
Gotta give props for that cleverness for trying to shape objects in a daily routine into a smiley face lol
I would imagine the intention for this film was to be under a minute (just assuming that from one of the film festival laurels in the poster), but I feel like there’s something more here, especially with that twist in the end.
The editing and cinematography is rock solid. My main nitpick is that the LuT feels like it’s on that default Black Magic setting. I think it could’ve been tinkered more with when he’s not smiling and when he is.
Well anyway, sometime it’s worth smiling even if you’re not up for it. Maybe your upside down frown will cheer someone up.
