honestly higher up for me in terms of mani ratnam. loved the vibe and general portrayal of enlightenment and how god works in mysterious ways. all things considered it definitely had potential to be so much greater. i think the character of arjun’s bergman is severely underwritten and shallow. a step back from all the big revenge plot would have let the themes flourish even better. im not saying dont have conflict but it was over the top (its mani ratnam after all). all performances were great, arvind swamy in particular was brilliant. also ar rahman always puts his soul into mani ratnam projects but why for the love of god is mani ratnam ass at directing visuals for songs its like his kyptonite in every movie.
