This is the first movie I had to watch in my History and Film class. This is not what I was expecting from this class to say the least and I can think of many other things I’d rather be watching, but it is interesting to see films from a place we aren’t typically exposed too. Magdana’s Donkey is a Soviet era film from Georgia and it’s all about the class relationships and Stalinistic ideals that were going on at the time. This is generally a pretty well made film, with some good performances and themes, but they lost me with some of the editing choices. The one at the end specifically took all of the drama out of the last scene and it brought the movie down a considerable amount for me.
