Her voice is incredible, and it was one of the only recordings of her voice that wasn’t tweaked by Columbia Records. Growing up in St. Louis, the blues are a huge part of the culture, and Bessie Smith is on the Mt. Rushmore of blues legends. And still their impact is seen and celebrated today, I mean our hockey team is literally named after the music. This is such an important watch not just for someone from The Lou, but it’s a culturally important piece of art in American history as well.
