Better than anything I could’ve hoped for. Incredible how much footage Ondi got and how intimate it gets with the bands. There really is nothing like it that shows the chaotic disfunctionality of any artist or band. The closest thing being Jeen-yuhs but compared to this, that seems tame. Antone Newcombe is a CUNT. Worst type of person. Honestly a Kanye-esque narcissist. But unsurprisingly a fucking genius all the same. Saying The Brian Jonestown Massacre are a clusterfuck feels like an understatement. Alternatively, The Dandy Warhols are a bit too commercial and feel like they’re manufacturing a look which is kinda corny, but they otherwise seem down to earth and ultimately that’s probably what contributed to their success. It really is amazing to see the contrast of the two bands simultaneously in such a raw way. And maybe the best thing about the film is the fact that it doesn’t make being a rockstar look fun or glamorous which is SO fucking refreshing. Oh, and the other best part of film: Noel! Fucking Noel! The absolute glue of the band. Absolute legend. Everything about him - his hair, his clothes, his personality. THE ULTIMATE TAMBOURINE MAN…
