This was perhaps the biggest gamble I took on a screening this year because I literally heard of it yesterday and booked it based on the poster and name seeming like a bit of me.
I'd say actually it probably could've done without some of the more flatout supernatural horror elements because it's themes of being a stranger in your home were already much stronger on their own. But hearing the director talk at the end about how it's very personal to him and his Arabic roots put a different perspective on what I thought I'd initially got out of it and I found it to be an overall very fascinating film.

ladies, if your husband ever shows up out of the blue with a second wife and baby on the way…he better be six feet under asap!

this won best horror at fantastic fest so my expectations were pretty high and unfortunately i was incredibly disappointed. i love the story and commentary that’s happening here but i was bored for most of it. the third act steps up and sucked me in and delivered on the horror element, but i still wasn’t properly invested.
