Digging deep into the watchlist. The director and cast are reason enough to check this out even if a few of the notables er eh don’t have a lot of screen time. There’s also been recent po-faced Americana movies dabbling in this area of action thriller schlock with provincial schmaltz. None of the newer ones border on AIP action like this one (just needed explosions and a car flip) nor do they have the TV movie monologues and odd quirks. The bones of this movie are actually kind of great and if it leaned a little more neo-noir and a little less after school special it’d be great. Still is pretty good.
