The story here is intimate, and despite the relatively short runtime the moments are allowed to take space and linger. These women live very complex lives, but very little emotion actually translates to the screen. Part of that might be due to casting, but I also can’t help but think that this feels like a much richer script where so much is left either on the page or in the cutting room floor. As such it ends up being somewhat unremarkable for me.
