soo i decided to rewatch a hidden gem thriller movie based a true-crime case from Christopher Wilder. this movie looks special because of Shawnee Smith & Gerald “Mac” McRaney (ikr this movie not so great but still worth to watch) “I’m your boyfriend now, Tina!”
well, for a made-for-TV movie from 80s, Easy Prey feels surprisingly raw and emotionally gripping. the realism is almost documentary-like and that’s what makes it so disturbing. believe me, you’re not just watching a movie, but you’re witnessing a nightmare that once really happened. a hidden gem that deserves way more recognition than it ever got!
it follows from Tina Risico (played by Shawnee herself), a college student who’s lured by a charming stranger promising a modeling opportunity named Christopher Wilder (played by Gerald himself) and suddenly kidnapping her for 9 days. the movie explores the psychological tension between killer and victim where manipulation, fear, and fleeting moments of hope intertwine
as days pass, Tina begins to understand the depth of Wilder’s madness and starts looking for small ways to survive. despite being trapped and terrified, she clings to her intelligence and intuition, searching for an escape. this movie doesn’t have any jumpscares but still makes me terrified.
for me, it’s a slow-burn psychological nightmare, and yet you can’t look away 🩸
