If Pan 0 and Pan 1 were how Hollis Frampton kicked off this project, then I feel like I cannot fault him for his overall choices here. Pan 0 was apparently a recreation of his first film, since destroyed, whereas Pan 1’s simplistic subject feels like a very “on the whim” capture of the moment of the day. It does ring true to a lot of the subjects that Hollis is interested in as an artist, the form being the means by which the film distills information and meaning. I get the start point, but Jonas Mekas this is not
