Different cultural context but I was surprised how much this resembles the nondescript mainstream supernatural horror we’re slowly getting less and less of nowadays. Charming and real slice of life stuff leads to a job at a haunted place and then some supernatural kills and a priest of sorts gets brought in to help explain a little and then oh no it wants your baby and then climactic showdown. The spooky stuff is good enough but it only starts getting crazy towards the end and then it gets… well it goes further than expected. You definitely couldn’t end a contemporary haunting movie the same way now.
Pandemi had me real aware of dudes dipping their slobbery chopsticks into a communal dog meat hot pot, two dudes having a convo with their faces two inches apart (both smoking), and the lead dude putting his (human) bite wound immediately into his mouth. So carefree!
