If you want to know where I am in the film, I’m just off screen in every shot holding an iphone attached to a selfie stick above the actors trying to get an audio track. Sound travels up. Not down. (I wish it did). I was standing on stairs, hiding in bushes, crouching, kneeling. On the second day I decided to start wearing slippers. NO ADR was used in this movie despite how frustrating it was trying to get audio when outside. Everything is done live and it’s authentically beautiful because of that.
I must give my praise to the wonderful Pacey Larkin, Blake Jamieson and Mark Burns who were ALL incredible and it was wonderful to have the honour to hold a mic above them while they performed so beautifully. To Ryan, operated the iPhone we used as a camera so brilliantly despite being a lifelong Android User. To all the amazing extras. To Iona, who wrote and directed a beautiful story with rich monologues and complex emotions that must be a feast for an actor to deliver.
