This film well illustrates the beauty and limitation of worker cooperatives in capitalist society. Altogether the film is very moving. It reminds me of Engels on one of the main contradictions of capitalism- socialised production in conflict with capitalist appropriation. In worker’s coop’s the contradiction still exists as the products of labour must be turned into capital to interact with the broader economy. But also when work sites are under worker’s control you see that capital appropriation is unnecessary, bosses are useless and workers take care of one another. And as the experts of their industry workers organise more efficiently and their work becomes more meaningful.
Also fuck the police.
