This is a very interesting watch that makes WW2 seem so real.
My point through films and media, we kinda forget that life had to keep on going and the over-saturation of media depicting WW2 has made it feel surreal, photojournalism as ‘Blockade’ by Sergei Loznitsa makes it real again.
It doesn’t hold back, the scenes where German Soldiers are paraded through the city are so terrifying seeing them with broken arms, cuts and bruises in their face, while the public harass them. There’s other scenes of the active bombing of Moscow and the ruins that follows, it’s a great look into the day-to-day life of a war torn and impoverished cityscape. It’s really just a cold look at war and it’s worth a watch.
