The way this looks, sounds and feels like a 1940s three-strip Technicolor film... Ugh, can’t go wrong with that. No, really. This must have been a long lost screenplay Fred Astaire forgot to make, otherwise... Frederick de Cordova did a good job imitating the style of Hollywood’s golden age of musicals.
I also liked all the numbers and songs. But maybe after having watched the hideous Clambake (1967) yesterday, the standard was very low. All in all, I really did enjoy this Elvis Presley vehicle and how it reminded me the musical genre is my thing.
Just to be clear, I’m not saying this movie is good or something. It’s obviously not everybody’s cup of tea and the users rating can show you that. Personally, I’ve already saved the soundtrack in my music library.
