The supposedly dead and buried Mabuse returns to his criminal activities, as his longtime foe Police Inspector Lohmann, a dauntless girl reporter, and an American - who may be an FBI agent, or maybe a Chicago mobster - investigate a series of gruesome murders connected to a maximum security prison and involving a minister who has written a book called "The Anatomy Of The Devil".

The script is a bit bizarre and it’s a lot less complex than the Lang films (particularly thematically, as it essentially redoes the criticism to the prison system that the 2nd film did but pulpier), but it’s still great. The cinematography is pretty good and I was surprised by how well directed some shots were. The editing is weird but there are some really good transitions here and there, and it pays a beautiful homage to the Lang Trilogy, and works really well as a soft-reboot.
