Man, Morris is the worst. Genuinely surprised by this, beforehand I was very wary of what I interpreted a preachy title, not to mention the worry of how Jewish characters could be portrayed in this era. But no, actually. This is legitimately a very heartfelt family drama along the lines of Make Way For Tomorrow if anything, that uses the family's Jewishness as an important point of conflict while not making a spectacle out of it. A very sympathetic and human film, which I should just really have expected from Capra by this point.
