Felt like a Brett Easton Ellis book, which makes me want to read the book this was "based" off of by Michael Chabon... There are of course some cringe worthy flaws- the costume styling is what nearly ruined it for me. It's supposed to be 1987 and it looks like 2007 Texas, somewhere near an army base.
However, there's plenty of reflection, an interesting take on the way we approach life and ourselves, and our sexuality.
It doesn't fit into any box, which I appreciate. They may be characters we've seen before, but I look at it as spending more time with them... I loved Peter Sarsgaard.
I always wanted to be taken in by something like this growing up and it never happened, does it ever happen to anyone? Maybe my goal in life is to be that for someone.
To bring a taste of chaos to stir things up. To challenge them to do something theyve never allowed themselves, and then to spiral out of control to teach them that ol' lesson of Icarus.
At the end of the day, maybe I like this because I want to be a hot bisexual motorcycle riding mystery-man, who fucks for chaos and loves on a level most are incapable...
