Indy's work with the Belgian Army takes him to the front lines of Verdun in 1916, where officers' callous stupidity sends thousands of men to their deaths for virtually no territorial gain. In Paris, Indy falls in love with the seductive German spy Mata Hari, only to suffer the pains of deceit.

the second story had some great potential to give us a deeper look into indy but it fell short with the way it felt so clunky. i can only imagine how much better it would’ve been if george lucas had used carrie fisher’s script without making the edits she hated so much. i’d really love to see what that original script looked like.
