Noticeable improvement in the animation for this one, extra crispy and the colours for the magic was lovely. The music (battle music specifically) was consistently cool as well.

NOW. Azaka. She’s essentially the protagonist for this one and my feelings towards her fluctuated between indifference and a strong dislike. You best believe I exhaled a very DEEP exhale when she started doing the whole ‘I definitely DON’T love my cousin-brother guys! But if any woman so much as smiles at him then you’re my ENEMY!!!’ thing that so many anime LOVE to do. 

Also, this girl thinks her brother is weird for saying he’d be into men and women and YET SHE IS IN LOVE WITH HER COUSIN-BROTHER?! GTFO.

Incest ASIDE, she was…fine. Her final battle was nice to look at her, especially that funny little run along the pews. Everything was FINE. BLEGH.

i actually quite liked this one even though most people consider this the worst film in the series. from what i’ve heard, this film deviates from the source material quite a bit, but that didn’t bother me because i hadn’t read the source material in the first place.

it’s fun little side adventure that was probably the most entertaining in the series. i really loved the score in the film specifically, it gave off academia vibes. and the final fight animation was just crisp mwah. the main antagonists really could have been fleshed out more though, and the incest thing was super fucking weird, but still very much an enjoyable film.
