Flicker
I watched this movie with my English class, since we had studied Death of a Salesman beforehand — which I didn’t really like.
To be fair, Lee J. Cobb is doing most of the heavy lifting. He’s genuinely great — even if it sometimes feels like he’s shouting through three quarters of the film.
But everything around him is pretty rough. The staging feels flat, the shots are uninspired, and the whole thing just looks tired.
I was so bored I ended up doing something else instead of watching — which is never a good sign. At that point, it stopped feeling like a tragedy and started feeling like detention.
