What a mess! There is enjoyment to be had in the little vignets of different characters wandering and making their way through the city, but at the end of it all, it simply becomes confusing and you start to lose interest in what's meant to be the main point. If you don't know anything about the area or the history of the place (like me) this will simply come across as a Scorsese rip off with a Magreb backdrop. While some of the pictures were quite pretty, the music did it's best to ridicule even them. If you do watch this as an example of the radicalisation of Northern Africa through the 80's and 90's, I think it can be insightful. For me, it wasn't.
I should probably add I watched this in 360p on my TV with out of sync sound and even more out of sync subtitles. The way the filmmaker intended.
