“Lorenzo” was definitely one of the weirder Disney shorts I’ve seen—it’s got this bizarre charm to it, but at the same time, I kind of felt like it didn’t fully click with me. The animation style is cool, with that painterly look that pops off the screen, and I’ll give it credit for doing something super unique with the story idea. Like, a spoiled fat cat getting attacked by his own cursed tail? That’s wild and pretty creative. And I liked how dramatic the whole thing felt, like it was almost mocking itself. The tango music was fun too, giving it this over-the-top vibe that matched the visuals.
But even with that, I wasn’t really into it as much as I hoped. I found it more annoying than funny most of the time. The cat was just straight-up unlikeable, and the tail gag dragged on a bit too long. I get that it was meant to be chaotic and exaggerated, but it leaned a little too hard into that chaos, where it started to feel kind of repetitive and loud. It’s one of those shorts that I respect more than I actually enjoyed. I’m glad it exists because it’s different, but I probably wouldn’t watch it again anytime soon.
