Originally was my 10th Miike movie and while I didn’t enjoy it as much on a rewatch, this is still really entertaining and just so silly from start to finish. I really do wish characters had more development and the pacing towards the end was better but overall this is still such a silly and funny movie to watch there’s so so much to love about it.

Such a stupid and fun movie. This is my 10th Takashi Miike movie now and again this dude is so versatile. I really think the cheesy CGI fits PERFECTLY in a story this goofy and surprisingly this movie has a very heavy emphasis on it, 80% of the movie has CGI in the scenes and yes it’s goofy but it’s just so creative and fits so i’m not complaining at all. I really really like how weird and silly this movie was, it’s so colorful and everybody’s costumes remind me of some power rangers type of clothes, the set pieces are so weird aswell and super creative and just overall this was super fun to watch. I just love all the adaptations Miike does on anything like manga, video games, etc. Whether they’re actually good or not, I think Miike tries his hardest and adds his creative weirdness to all of them all and I love them for that. I do think this movie could’ve been a little bit better like showing more character development or things like that oh yeah also that ending lasted like 27 weeks but overall it’s super weird and a very entertaining adaptation. 👍

honestly i thought i really wouldn’t like this movie… but ended up having so much fun watching it! i love how Miike can go from making films like Audition to shit like Yatterman, which is basically a kids movie, asides from all the sex jokes. the whole movie is really just insane and weird, with some really nice set pieces and surprisingly great characters, especially Yatterman and Doronjo (played by the amazing Kyoko Fukada!) the aesthetics are cool, the fight scenes are over-the-top and amazing and overall it’s a really fun time which remains enjoyable throughout the runtime. recommended!
