I have never read the story this movie is based on, and therefore I’m unable to judge it as an adaptation—so I won’t. I didn’t really find the story of this film particularly compelling, as it felt pretty disjointed. Whether that’s the fault of the adaptor or the source material itself, I don’t know. It’s a passable film, sure, but it’s nothing outstanding nor groundbreaking. The performances are solid, but they don’t make up for just how confusing of a watch this film is. I struggled to remember a lot of the characters, and while that may be my own fault, it certainly didn’t help that the film kept jumping from flashbacks to present like it was checkers. Overall pretty meh.
