I can kind of see the graphic novel being actually good. However, as a live action movie, it just failed to translate. The source story was interesting enough, visuals and style, although trying very hard to be Snyder-esue, works on some level (Might be because I love Snyder. Might be.) but it's just so boring. Even the fight scene was boring. It just did not catch steam. It's like one of those decorative cakes which looks so good on the outside that you don't wanna cut into it, destroying the icing in the process but then you decide against your better judgment and go ahead and do it anyway and instantly regret it cause the cake tastes bland and the icing tastes like plastic. That's The Scribbler as a cake. I should start a series on my letterboxd reviews where I compare movies to cakes.
