while this movie does lack certain acting chops/fleshed out and reliable story, it is funny and thoughtful.
I can see people wanting to decided there is an issue with race/class/difference in addictions, but at the bottom of the story- like it attempts to articulate- it's really about the choices we make and taking responsibility. reading any more into it is probably giving it too much credit, TBH. It isn't that well written. It is just, at it's bones, a heart felt fluff piece about a complicated family.
