It's amazing that the Navajo people are so accepting of different genders and view gender as a spectrum, recognizing four distinct genders. Rest in peace to Fred Martinez and the many others who were murdered simply for living authentically. Gender exists on a wide spectrum, and no one should be forced to label themselves or suffer a hate crime for not conforming to Western cultural norms.
