Doesn’t do much for me but it is really interesting. Shot in 1968 but only released after Glauber left the country, it is another political reflection much like his previous Terra em Transe. This one starts with some thoughts from Glauber himself and then follows up on what he’s talking about. It is shot in long takes, which works since it is basically a collection of scenes rather than a narrative film, and it makes those feel more intimate. I also think it’s cool because a lot of these people are non-actors and they’re clearly looking at the camera at some points. Despite this, I find this general narrative incoherence lacks the musical touch of Glauber’s better movies. Not bad but just whatever.
