As a kid I genuinely questioned whether this movie even existed, and whether the trailer was actually real. I did eventually find out that it does exist, but could never find a way to watch it (I couldn’t even find torrents of it).
Now it’s 2025, and we live in an era where people can casually upload copyrighted content onto YouTube.
So what did I think of it? it wasn’t good but it’s actually a decent case study for the mindset of YouTubers that were trying to break into films & TV.
No one knew how big YouTube was going to get, and the partnership program had only begun on December 2007 (basically 9 months after this film was released). There were no sponsors, I don’t think there was much outsourcing for merch yet, and CPM would be considered low by today’s standards. So it’s ironic that this is a film about Ryan & Sean being coerced into joining Hollywood, because this is what it feels like had happened when this project began production.
In terms of everything else, it’s just plain not good. It’s directed by a veteran actor, and yet it feels like he had never learned anything about film, set design, or even writing production. There are jokes that are blatant rip offs from other popular media with 0 build up (eg. the Dumb & Dumber moped scene). According to IMDb this had a $1 million dollar budget?? Did the budget get wasted from renting that plane, because that would explain the really bad green screen moments for the moped journey moments??
The only good thing about this film is the novelty of it. It’s what a late 2000s nigahiga video would be like if it was extended for another hour and 15mins. Also What the Buck?!? He is the biggest example of someone saying “I haven’t heard that name in years… 💨🚬😮💨”.
Overall, I don’t hate it. Didn’t find it good or entertaining (especially the dance and singing moments), but definitely takes me back to simpler times.
