Not much shift in opinion since last time I watched this like two months ago, but there is a new found appreciation of how well Lubitsch's filmmaking just keeps improving with each passing film especially since getting to Hollywood.

Not much shift in opinion since last time I watched this like two months ago, but there is a new found appreciation of how well Lubitsch's filmmaking just keeps improving with each passing film especially since getting to Hollywood.

The plot is certainly... something, but I certainly still found it entertaining. This is the first time I've watched a Lubitsch silent, and I'm eager to watch more because he really knows how to shoot a silent well. The insert shots, the close-ups on hands, the little details like that, I just love that.
